Short biography: Prof. Dr. Thomas Blaschke is a Professor for Geoinformatics at the University of Salzburg, deputy director of the Interfaculty Department of Geoinformatics - Z_GIS, head of the Research Studio iSPACE (www.ispace.researchstudio.at) and coordinator of the Doctoral College GIScience (DK W 1237-N23). Prior positions include several lecturer, senior lecturer and professor positions in Germany, Austria and the UK, as well as temporary affiliations as a guest professor and visiting scientist at several Universities in the US, UK and Germany. His main research interests include methodological issues of the integration of GIS, remote sensing and image processing, particularly OBIA, for the analysis, monitoring and the understanding of man-made and (near-)natural systems. Another focus is the foundation of Geographic Information Science as a scientific field. Researchers involved:
Short biography:Mag. Daniel Hölbling obtained a master’s degree in Applied Geoinformatics from University of Salzburg with a thesis on the object-based classification of urban green structures using VHSR remote sensing data. Since 2006 he is researcher at the Interfaculty Department of Geoinformatics - Z_GIS. He is involved in several national and EU funded research projects related to GMES (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security) in the fields of remote sensing, natural hazards and human security. Daniel Hölbling is specialised in remote sensing and object-based image analysis. His research interests focus on EO-based monitoring, land use/land cover analysis and landslide mapping. He gained experience in applying OBIA to landslide classification within the EC-FP7 funded project SAFER. Short biography:Barbara Friedl, MSc obtained a bachelor´s degree in Geography and a master´s degree in Applied Geoinformatics from the University of Salzburg. Since 2013 she is researcher at the Interfaculty Department of Geoinformatics - Z_GIS, University of Salzburg. She is involved in national and EU funded research projects related to GMES (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security). Major research interests include topics in the field of natural hazards, human security and environmental applications with focus on remote sensing, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and object-based image analysis (OBIA). Former team member: Short biography:Dr. Clemens Eisank obtained a bachelor’s degree in Geography and a master’s degree in Applied Geoinformatics from the University of Salzburg in 2005 and 2007, respectively. Since 2008 he is working at the Interfaculty Department of Geoinformatics - Z_GIS. During the project SCALA Clemens Eisank started developing his doctoral thesis, focusing on multi-scale landform modelling with OBIA. He acted as principal researcher in the SCALA follow-up project KnowLand, a national-funded stand-alone project (FWF) that is directly linked to the topic of his thesis. Due to his project engagement he has obtained profound knowledge in GIS, geomorphology, geomorphometry, and geostatistics. Further, he is well experienced with the concepts and methods of OBIA, as well as with scaling issues. |
